·
Using Bloom’s Taxonomy of higher-level thinking questions is a fantastic way to challenge children at any grade-level. Try to ask your child questions from the Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation tiers of the pyramid to challenge your child’s thinking.
· Encourage your child to keep a writing journal at home. This can be a great communication tool for you and your child. You may even like to write back and forth with your child!
· Try reading aloud to your child a few times each week. Chapter books are great for family read aloud time. Be sure to select books that interest your child and that are at a level higher than his or her reading level. This will expose your child to new and exciting vocabulary!
